Financial Giving to Perth, Brookton and Beyond

Thanks to you Ryan and I are firmly on the road to Australia.  Through your prayers and financial giving so far, we have been able to attend assessments and training during 2015.  And we will be full time support raising at the beginning of February 2016.

P1020698We are also looking forward to Ryan’s 2 week trip to Australia in January.  Although I won’t be able to go with him, this trip is a great opportunity to work on relationships and build a strong foundation for our future in Australia.

Your continued support makes our ministry possible.  Thinking of making a tax deductible end of the year donation?

This month, we’re asking people to consider giving towards our one-time financial needs.  In addition to monthly support, we also have to raise about $30,000 in order to cover the cost of additional trainings, visa costs, moving costs, plane tickets along with other expenses.  Thanks to current giving, we’re already raised about $7,000 towards our goal.

The church we will be working with in Australia is also excited about us coming, so much so that they paid for Ryan’s plane ticket for his trip in January.  They are investing in us because of the value they see in our future work in the Wheat Belt, the rural area outside of Perth.  We would love for you to also invest in us and our kingdom vision.

Would you be willing to make a special year-end donation of $50, $100 or whatever you can afford to help us meet our goal and get us to Australia in 2016?

We can’t get to Australia without you.  Our financial and prayer supporters don’t just give to our ministry, they are a part of our ministry.

Please, click here to make your donation now.  Support our ministry in Perth, Brookton and beyond.

Thank you for your continued support and friendship.  We’re looking forward to time with many of you in the new year!

Totally Koalafied

August 2015

This is our latest newsletter, Totally Koalafied, with our vision for life and work in Australia.  It also includes how to support us in getting there including the link to donations.mtw.org.  We’ve been asked many times, how quickly could we leave?  Well, if we were completely supported this month, it would take us less than 6 months to finish the MTW trainings and prepare for the move.  We’d love for you to be a part of getting us to Australia.  We would be happy to make time to answer your questions and tell you more about our hope for the greater Perth area.

I emailed this newsletter out yesterday to those on our email list.  If you would like to receive our updates first and straight to your email then send an email to joy.candee@gmail.com.  Thanks!

Our First Australia Book

  IMG_0773

Ryan and I are excited about our future in Australia and although we are still many steps away from the move, we are looking forward to sharing our future plans for life and ministry with our friends, family and let’s be honest, strangers, acquaintances and anyone else who is interested too 🙂  Pictures are a great way to share that story and thanks to a great coupon, we ordered what we hope will be the first of many Australia books.

Reasons #32-#34 Why I Love My Husband

#32- He will try anything once. The following picture is from our friend’s wedding.  Notice the guys are holding the limbo bar up at their shoulders.  Even though limbo isn’t Ryan’s thing (hmmm, I wonder why!?), he still wanted to participate and give it a shot.  And he had fun!

RJ-Limbo

#33- Our united vision. We’ve been working hard on the MTW application and all the pieces they need from us.  Our schedules have also changed because of church attendance and we’ve been making adjustments that may not be easy or comfortable now but we know that each of these steps get us closer to Australia.  Without our united vision, this wouldn’t be possible.  I’m so thankful to have a husband whose heart for ministry and vision for our future is united with mine.

#34- He kisses me everyday.  This one is self explanatory:-)

Praying For Perth

Even though Ryan and I are on this side of the pond, we still have a connection to the people and places in Australia, specifically in and around Perth.  We are intending to work with a team that is already there on the ground.  Berenice is a wonderful artist who uses a wide variety materials as her canvas.  Everything from egg shells to doll heads.  Her work isn’t just interesting to look at, it has a story behind it.  She also uses bones.  Yes, bones!  You can see one of her works HERE and although I did not contribute to this work, I did collect bones for her while I was living in PNG.  I also love that she uses and plays with language. Check out more of her art on her website: berenice rarig- artist.

 PrayingfortheDs

Art can be ministry and this is very evident in Berenice’s latest work.  She is praying through the Perth phone book.  Each name gets prayed over, written out in beautiful script and collected together in little books.  Since artwork is a process for Berenice, I’m sure this work will evolve as she works her way through the alphabet.  She has reached the Ds and although it is a long and hand-inking process, the power of prayer is at work here.  Once completed Berenice can say that she has prayed for everyone in the city by name.  How awesome is that!?

School of Ministry Graduation aka Congratulations Ryan!

School of Ministry is a ministry training course that introduces the participants to many aspects of ministry through dicipleship, lessons, reading, homework and mentorship.  This course prepares the participants for ministry and stretches them in many ways.  Ryan has been attending School of Ministry for the last 16 or so months.  To put this in perspective he has been attending school of ministry longer than we’ve been married.  But last night was graduation and my husband didn’t just graduate, he was co-valadictorian.

20150310_192701For his speech he talked about prayer, different aspects of prayers, the benefits of prayer and what we should be striving for in our prayer lives.  It was encouraging and inspiring.  I’ve heard Ryan speak before but this was the first time where I had no idea what to expect and was amazingly blessed by his words.

20150310_195502And this is Ryan receiving his certificate from Pastor Bruce.  Sorry for the blurry picture but it gives you some idea of the reasons for the height jokes flying.  Pastor Bruce was up on a stage and Ryan was not.  However, these men both love and respect each other and it is sweet for me to see the wonderful mentoring, encouraging relationship that Pastor Bruce has with my husband.

Congratulations Ryan!  I’m so proud of you for all your hard work.  I look forward to continuing to apply what you’ve learned in our life and ministry together.
