“As Jesus looked up, he saw the rich putting their gifts into the temple treasury. He also saw a poor widow put in two very small copper coins. “Truly I tell you,” he said, “this poor widow has put in more than all the others. All these people gave their gifts out of their wealth; but she out of her poverty put in all she had to live on.” Luke 21:1-4Ryan and I have the privilege of being blessed by the “widow’s nothing”. Of course we celebrate, are humbled by and abundantly thankful for the larger gifts that get us more quickly to our milestones but we are humbled in a different way and doubly blessed by the gifts we receive from people who are giving out of their lack.
This is a great reminder for Ryan and I to focus on where are support ultimately comes from. I find it easy to praise our own support raising strategies when things are going well but get disheartened and turn to God when things aren’t progressing as quickly. God is currently working and providing for us in amazing ways, however, when we’re handed a ministry gift that we know is given out of a humble faith (however great or small), we pause and praise God an extra measure.
Thank you everyone who has given towards our ministry. We know that generosity comes in all forms and are especially grateful to those of you who are giving on faith or out of your own “widow’s nothing”.
