Hamburger Night

This is it folks, the only semi-regular evening-time eating establishment in Ukarumpa.  Ok so this building is also used for conferences, basketball games, teen worship serves and a myriad of other activites.  But on Friday night during the semester it’s Hamburger Night at the teen centre.  Hamburger Night is run by the Ukarumpa teenagers and it is a great way for them to serve the community.  We all look forward to a yummy meal that we didn’t have to prepare for ourselves.

When you arrive, you queue up and fill out an order form.  You can pay cash or charge the food to your Ukarumpa account.  The menu is fairly regular- hamburgers, hotdogs, chicken sandwiches, burritos, fries/chips, sodas, milkshakes and an assortment of salads.  Sometimes they have specials like my personal favorite the BBQ chicken sandwich.  It’s nothing fancy but the teens do a great job.

Here is Sara behind the scenes, working hard so that our food gets to us hot and fresh.

Once the food arrives there are tables where you can get condiments and salad dressing.  Like the buns and tortillas, the salad dressings are all homemade.  You can load up your burger with lettuce, tomato, pickles and onions.  And of course there is plenty of ketchup/tomato sauce and mustard.

This is the taco salad.  Yum yum.

The adult table.  Downstairs is a place for families to sit and eat with their children.  But upstairs is adults tasol.

Bruce sure likes his hamburger and rootbeer.

Don’t you wish your Friday nights were filled with this much fun and excitement?
